MoI Council Calls for Promoting Awareness about the Proper Use of Social Networking Sites

Participants attending the Ministry of Interior’s council, hosted by Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi at his residence in Al Ain, discussed of the issue of social media privacy violations.

The council is part of a series of awareness councils organized by the Law Respect Culture Bureau, in cooperation with the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and was moderated by media figure Hassan Habib, Deputy Manager of Dubai Sports Channel. Moreover, participants stressed the need to promote cyber crime awareness amongst community members and the need to protect sensitive data, including personal information and payment card data.

The council tackled the importance of instilling effective mechanisms to ensure the proper use of social networking sites, in order to enjoy their many benefits at a local, regional and global level. Participants noted that social media has become a vital part of daily life, underlining the need to abide by the usage laws, terms and conditions.

On the same note, participants highlighted the various forms of cyber crime and ways to counter them, in order to raise awareness about such crimes and the related penalties. Participants also warned against falling prey to blackmail or electronic fraud and the online exploitation of children by immoral predators. In conclusion, they praised the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Interior in providing e-patrols to curb such crimes, in addition to raising public awareness against their risks using multiple means and methods.

Abu Dhabi Police Win First Place in the Khalifa Award for Education "Land of Innovation"

The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters won first place in the Khalifa Award for Education “Land of Innovation” that was organized by the General Secretariat of the Award at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The award was received by Major Muhammad Ismail Al Harmoudi, Director of the Innovation Center at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The Center landed the Award for the ‘child car protection seat’.

If they fail to return to the vehicle on time, the system initiates second phase by automatically lowering the vehicle's rear windows to let in some air, then switches on the air conditioning. If the parent has still not returned after a few minutes, after he or she left the car - the device sets off a loud alarm after he or she left the car - the gadget sets off a loud alarm and the vehicle’s lights to attract the attention of passers-by, thus contributing to promptly saving the child.

MoI Officer Achieves Academic Excellence at NYPD Police Academy

New Achievement for the UAE Police

First Lieutenant Hamed Salim Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi from the Ministry of Interior has achieved academic excellence at the prestigious NYPD Police Academy. The achievement is yet another addition to the record of local and international achievements of the UAE Police. Customer Service Excellence Diploma for 490 Governmental Employees

The Ministry of Interior has launched the Customer Service Excellence Diploma program in 2014 in cooperation with Etisalat Academy. The program was designed to benefit customer service employees in various governmental authorities.

Colonel Nasser Khadem Al Kaabi, Head of the Customer Service Department at the General Secretariat of HH Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior said that the launch of the Diploma is in line with the directions and the aspirations of the Federal Government. It aims to train and qualify the front line governmental employees, and hone their skills to elevate the provided services in accordance with the highest international standards.

Saif bin Zayed Supervises Efforts to Extinguish the Address Hotel Fire

Abu Dhabi Police Launch Community-Based Initiative to Encourage Reading

Under the slogan “Used books; Recycling for Education”

The Abu Dhabi Police launched on Saturday a community-based initiative to encourage reading among inmates. The initiative falls within the framework of the ‘2016, Year of Reading in the UAE’ initiative launched by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and aims at collecting used books from Abu Dhabi Police staff members and the public in all  languages and human knowledge fields.

Abdullah Shaheen, Media Expert at the Security Media department at Abu Dhabi Police and supervisor of the initiative, explained that the initiative, which was launched under the slogan “Used Books; Recycling for Education’, is the result of the fruitful collaboration between the Press Branch and the Electronic Club section. The initiative aims to give new life to used books and to foster a culture of knowledge exchange adopted by the Abu Dhabi Police, in order to achieve the optimal benefit from books; not only as a collectible item, but as a tool for ongoing benefit and knowledge exchange. This approach stems from the firm belief in the importance of reading and education in correcting individual behavior and providing positive and constructive guidance, not to mention the other environmental and community-based benefits.

Shaheen noted that the Security Media Department has started installing dropboxes dedicated for used book donations in reception areas at its service departments. This would allow staff members and the public to take part in this initiative and to donate their unwanted books. These books will be sorted and classified and will make a valuable addition to libraries at the Punitive and Correctional Establishments sector and others.

Major Ashayma' Taleb Hussein, Chief of the e-Club Section at the Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, said that the initiative is a unique innovative approach by Abu Dhabi Police. ”This approach reflects the ADP’s keenness to keep pace with any purposeful activity taking place in society and to be the leading entity to participate in and support any efforts that will benefit society by educating  and enhancing awareness of community members. These measures will have a positive impact and reinforce the opportunities to promote security and stability,” she said.

Major Hussein also noted that the initiative will be ongoing throughout the year. A specialized committee has been formed to collect the donated books, sort them by theme and restore and bind them; to allow a significant number of people to peruse them and benefit from them.

For her part, media figure Aisha Al Shehhi, coordinator of the initiative, revealed that the first phase of the initiative will target inmates of the correctional and punitive establishments (men, women and juveniles), in order to inculcate a culture of reading amongst them. This will contribute to developing their cultural and cognitive abilities, improve their academic and professional attainment and help them fill their leisure time with purposeful educational activities. The initiative will be later on expanded to include other institutions and society segments wishing to have free access to those books.

‘Aqdar’ Program Takes Part in Al Dhafra Camel Festival 2015
