Mobile World Congress 2014
COLOMBES, France - Tuesday, February 18th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Oberthur Technologies, a world leader in digital security solutions for the mobility space, today announced that in1SIM, the global M2M connectivity supplier and a subsidiary of Siptronix, has selected its M-Connect solution to offer optimum mobile connectivity to M2M players.
Together the two companies answer the need for a global and reliable solution to connect smart objects to mobile networks. OT’s M-Connect solution has been designed, in line with the current GSMA standardization, to securely activate and change subscriptions in these objects remotely. It will enable in1SIM to download the best mobile subscription and to switch to an available network in case of loss of connectivity.
The first market trials are planned this year with energy distribution companies in Northern Europe. According to Machina Research, the total number of connected devices should reach 24 billion in 2020, and within that, mobile connected devices will represent more than 12 billion.
“The end-to-end solution combining our M-Connect solution and the service of in1SIM provides the most effective way to deploy mobile M2M services. Smart objects will automatically be connected to the most optimum network wherever they are distributed and vendors will achieve global connectivity through local carriers. End-users will also benefit from a better and more reliable service, for instance with accurate bills based on their real-time energy usage.” said Marek Juda, Managing Director of the Solutions Business Unit at Oberthur Technologies.
“Thanks to OT’s M-Connect solution, we will better serve all our customers, while optimizing network resource consumption. Partnering with multiple mobile operators, in1SIM provides connectivity services to different M2M applications, where reliability of mobile connections matter. Beyond the utilities sector, the solution is now available for security and safety, vehicle telematics and industrial remote monitoring customers.” said Petteri Holma, CEO at in1SIM.
OT will present its wide range of M2M products at the Mobile World Congress from February 24 to 27, 2014. Come and visit the M Company booth (Hall 6 - 6I28).
