MoI Launches the “Knowledge Gateway” and “Share my Knowledge” Initiatives

Enabling the Exchange of Expertise and Support for Decision-makers

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, October 6th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has launched the “E-knowledge Gateway” and “Share my Knowledge” initiatives which aim to promote the knowledge transfer from the leaders to their staff members. The initiatives will leverage the expertise within the MoI’s sectors in order to serve the development of organizational excellence and improve the indicators of job performances and quality of services.
Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, announced the launch of the two initiatives during a ceremony held in a hall of the Abu Dhabi Police Compound building to a crowd of leaders, officers, and non-commissioned officers from the MoI.
Al Nuaimi stressed that the conditional elements for success lie in the support and provision of police leadership to motivate the staff members of the MoI by supplementing their knowledge and providing them with a variety of information in the various fields.
“Contributing to the dissemination and circulation of knowledge nationwide will continuously develop our practices and experiences, and keep us abreast of the best international practices and experiences in this vital area,” Major General Al Nuaimi said. Moreover, he pointed out that the ministry’s knowledge management strategy focuses on enhancing the quality of life for everyone who lives in the UAE through security and safety.
Adding further, Major General Al Nuaimi indicated that the human resources at the ministry are the main focus of the knowledge management strategy. The objectives of this strategy are based on activating and strengthening the role of the human element, improving skills, establishing the concept of knowledge, and spreading the culture of excellence in line with the ministry’s vision of maintaining security and stability and improving standards of police work.
For his part, Major Dr. Ali Abdullah bin Dha’ain Al Ghafali, Head of the Corporate Excellence Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said that the knowledge of the ministry’s staff members will be compiled, classified, and stored in an electronic system in order to optimize the human capital and spread the culture of knowledge among staff members and the society in general. Furthermore, Major Dr. Al Ghafali point out that the “Share my Knowledge” initiative for leaders aims to transfer the tacit knowledge and expertise of leaders and staff members and circulate such knowledge among all workers in the same field through lectures, workshops, and meetings in accordance with the ministry's vision in this area.
“The knowledge-based methodology offers a wealth of critical information and accurate reports in decision-making that are useful in helping to solve problems, manage events, develop and improve services, boost customer satisfaction, and foster partnership with different sectors. Access to the correct information supplements the purpose of the electronic system, which was created to store the knowledgeable information of staff members. This ‘knowledge’ is sought by staff members, as it is an incentive garnered through the exchange of expertise and experiences,” said Major D. Al Ghafali.
He announced that ‘Police Knowledge’, part of the ‘Share My Knowledge’ initiative at the MoI, will take place on Monday of each week. This initiative enables the transfer of knowledge in a consistent and methodological manner, where each sector participates in contributing to the inventory of knowledge and identifying those that should be involved.
Major Dr. Ghafali stressed the importance of such knowledge initiatives in ensuring continued transfer of expertise between staff members; investing in performance development; and enhancing the work of the knowledge management at the MoI, which is based on the values of justice, human rights, honesty, integrity, leadership, teamwork, creativity and excellence.
