ZENVISION: Immersion - “Traumzeit-Dome”, the Largest Mobile 360-Degree Cinema in the World, Right in Rust!

BERLIN - Wednesday, April 1st 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The largest "Immersive Media Screen" (IMS) in the world opened (Trailer, 1:45). Where? Of course, at Europa-Park Rust, one of the most sought after attractions in Germany and the "Best Theme Park of Europe" according to TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice 2014.

The new projection dome was developed by the world's leading provider of geodesic domes, the Berlin-based company ZENVISION, and installed in Europa-Park by the creative agency, TRIAD.

"A Dream! The 40th anniversary of the Europa-Park is a very special occasion for all of us when we give our visitors and guests European moments as a multimedia experience; and that on an impressive 630m² projection screen, the largest mobile, digital full-dome system: The Traumzeit-Dome (dreamtime dome)". says Roland Mack – CEO of Europa-Park Rust and former President of IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions)

Maximum emotional involvement can be achieved in two ways: the user can be completely isolated from their environment with the use of Oculus Rift or for shared / group experience, via the dome projections used at “Traumzeit-Dome”. The IMS is the projection surface built into the dome, meaning that the visitor can look up while standing or get comfy in one of the beanbags made available to get immersed.

The sophisticated technology in and on the ZENDOME provides a nearly seamless projection with the simultaneous use of multiple projectors and by supplementing the images with perfect surround sound. In this case, the visitor's entire field of vision is consumed, giving the observer the feeling of having been thrown into the depicted scene.

Aside from the Zeiss Planetarium (Berlin), which is currently under reconstruction, and the planetarium in Mannheim, the geodesic dome at Europa-Park in Rust is the largest digital full-dome enclosure in Germany.

The mobile projection dome membrane in the Traumzeit-Dome at Europa-Park, which stands out across the world because of its scale alone, opens up a whole new dimension of immersive experience. The ZENDOME in Rust, however, also sets new technical benchmarks: It uses the world's first mobile projection membrane for 25-meter domes and employs a negative pressure system to keep the screen stable.

The sheer scale and technology of the new dome are not the only marvels, but rather the speedy construction was also possibly record-breaking. The ZENVISION specialists required a mere three days to assemble the IMS. The extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge of the team obviously paid off. With great attention to details and particularly high quality standards, the Zendomes have been used as mobile and eye-catching architecture at events around the world for almost 10 years already. In the field of new, immersive media, the young, Berlin-based company, ZENVISION, is one of the world's leading specialists. This is the best German engineering tradition at work. Europa-Park and its new Zendome create an innovative partnership aimed at the visitor's maximum entertainment value.
