- The S-77100/77101 series allows easy control of power supply sequencing simply through an external capacitor –
CHIBA, Japan - Monday, September 14th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Seiko Instruments Inc. (SII) announced the release of the S-77100/77101 Series power sequencer IC, which easily achieves stable system startup simply by connecting an external capacitor that adjusts the delay time of the sequencing operation. Typical applications include power sequencing for multiple devices, microcontrollers, FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), TVs, cameras, and printers.
Power sequencing is required for microcontrollers and FPGAs with multiple power supply pins. The S-77100/77101 Series enables stable system startup and avoids the large inrush current generated when turning on multiple power supplies simultaneously. These power sequencer ICs can successively turn on and off multiple external power supplies including DC-DC converter ICs and LDO regulators via their enable (EN) pins, which leads to stable systems and design load reduction.
Typical power sequencing circuits have to use discrete components such as resistors and capacitors to adjust the delay time for each pin due to the dependence and variability of resistance and capacitance. On the contrary, the S-77100/77101 Series can easily adjust the delay time simply by changing the capacitance of an external capacitor. In addition, cascade connection, which is possible over three stages, can increase the number of channels. The low current consumption of 3.0μA minimizes the load on power supplies, and various selectable options such as input/output forms are available to meet diverse requirements. For example, customers can select the order of enable output: reverse type (the enable output falls in reverse order of its rising order) or forward type (the enable output falls in the same order as its rising order). The operation voltage range is from 2.2V to 5.5V. The packages are 8-Pin TSSOP or SNT-8A. The S-77100 Series enables the control of the sequence operations of four channels only by one input signal. The S-77101 Series uses separate input signals to control on-sequence and off-sequence operations.
