The Police Sports Association at the Ministry of Interior and Etihad Airways signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) in order to sponsor and support sports activities, events, and competitions organized by the Police Sports Association for the sports season 2015/2016.
The MoU was signed by Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Chairman of the Police Sports Association, and by Hareb Mubarak Al-Muhairi, Vice-president of Commercial Affairs at Etihad Airways on behalf of Etihad Airways.
Colonel Al Dhaheri confirmed that the MoU reflects the support and patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for the police sports activities; whose aim is to raise the athletic and intellectual levels for young athletes, to develop their talents, and to upgrade the level of sports games in order to create a community-based partnership that supports joint collaboration. Such aspirations are to achieve the objectives of national sports and to utilize them as the most prominent way to invest in human health.
Moreover, Colonel Al Dhaheri said that the MoU enhances the cooperation and fruitful relations amongst the nation’s communal institutions and complies with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to qualitatively transform and create more openness in societal institutions. Such steps are in accordance with the laws and policies of the Police Sports Association, which aim to build upon the bridges of communication with the various segments of society. He also stressed the Police Sports Association’s keenness to reinforce cooperation with all national institutions in an effort to achieve the desired goals.
Furthermore, he praised the fruitful relations with a distinguished national company such as Etihad Airways. He also stressed the keenness of the Police Sports Association to see this agreement as a culmination of the productive cooperation between two parties to the benefit of the nation and of the community sport sector. Colonel Al Dhaheri additionally said that the MoU will contribute to upholding the banner of sport and will enhance its development in order to realize everyone’s desired objective.
For his part, Hareb Mubarak Al-Muhairi, Vice-president of Commercial Affairs at Etihad Airways, indicated that this memorandum is a compelling testament to the long-term commitment that the airline has to its local community.
Adding further, he pointed out that the MoU reflects the company’s interest in sports “as an important link that reflects our commitment to support the local initiatives that have been launched by the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Interior, while simultaneously highlighting the UAE as a leading global destination.” He continued by wishing the Police Sport Association with continued success in all sports activities.
