Mellanox Announces ConnectX-4 Lx, the Most Cost-Efficient 25/50 Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter for Cloud, Web 2.0 and Enterprise Data Centers

New network adapter designed to serve as direct replacement for commonly deployed 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters in Web 2.0, cloud, data analytics, database, and storage platforms

SUNNYVALE, Calif. & YOKNEAM. - Saturday, June 20th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mellanox® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ:MLNX), a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions, today announced its ConnectX®-4 Lx 10/25/40/50 Gigabit Ethernet adapter, delivering optimal cost-performance and scalable connectivity for Cloud, Web 2.0 and storage platforms. The first adapter designed to serve as a direct replacement for commonly deployed 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters, the ConnectX-4 Lx allows businesses to migrate to higher-performance technology as their bandwidth requirements increase without demanding an infrastructure overhaul or added operating expense.

“The performance expectations placed on data centers today are unprecedented and require organizations to make infrastructure decisions that meet today’s demands while anticipating future growth needs,” said Rohit Mehra, vice president of network infrastructure, IDC. “Next-generation cloud data centers need network infrastructure solutions that have the flexibility and scalability to handle dramatically increasing data sets while remaining cost-effective from both the operational and capital expense perspective.”

ConnectX-4 Lx supports Multi-Host™ technology which enables multiple compute and storage hosts to connect to a single adapter, while maintaining high-performance levels and reducing overall data center CAPEX and OPEX. ConnectX-4 Lx also includes native hardware support for RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE), stateless offload engines, and GPUDirect®. Together with Mellanox’s Spectrum 10/25/40/50 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet switches, Mellanox now enables a complete and world-leading end-to-end Ethernet solution for cloud, Web 2.0, data analytics, artificial intelligence and enterprise data centers. With Mellanox Ethernet solutions, data center users and managers can upgrade from 10 to 25 or from 40 to 50 or 100Gb/s performance.

“With the exponential increase in data usage and the creation of new applications, the demand for high-throughput, low-latency interconnects with sophisticated data and virtualization acceleration engines continues to rise,” said Gilad Shainer, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “We developed ConnectX-4 Lx in anticipation of businesses’ need to migrate to higher-performance solutions as greater bandwidth is needed for cloud and Web 2.0 data centers. The ConnectX-4 Lx allows for 2.5x the performance to be packed into the same infrastructure footprint improving overall server and storage utilization to achieve maximum return-on-investment.”

“The growing number of cloud deployments and applications launching in cloud environments are driving demand for more high speed networks,” said Dexter Henderson, vice president and business line executive, IBM Power Systems. “Implementation of the ConnectX-4 Lx supports the need of our mutual clients to process large quantities of data, reducing latency while delivering real-time results in workload-dense cloud data centers.”

“Interconnect performance capabilities are critical to compute-intensive applications to achieve faster results,” said Mr. Leijun Hu, vice president of Inspur Group. “Our systems today have been designed with Mellanox’s ConnectX-4 Lx 25 and 50Gb/s Ethernet capable adapters in mind and will easily and quickly integrate into our solutions.”

“Mellanox’s ConnectX-4 Lx will make an immediate impact on our customers, and they will benefit from 25 and 50Gb/s Ethernet interconnect performance,” said Mr. Chaoqun Sha, vice president of Sugon. “Integrating the adapter into our next generation server and storage systems will allow us to have the flexibility and scalability we didn’t have before to make our customer’s infrastructure run as efficiently and productively as possible.”

ConnectX-4 Lx adapters are sampling today with select customers. With ConnectX-4 Lx, Mellanox offers a complete end-to-end 10/25/40/50 Gigabit Ethernet solution, including Spectrum™ Ethernet switch and LinkX™ copper and fiber cables, breakout cables and modules.
