The Ministry of Interior recently launched the Innovation Lab, in line with the wise leadership‘s announcement of 2015 as the year of innovation in the UAE. The innovation lab aims at developing innovative solutions to the different challenges facing the UAE society that are closely related to the ministry’s tasks. The lab would also allow community members to submit their suggestions and ideas via social networking sites in order to be discussed later in search of innovative, practical, and pragmatic solutions.
Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, explained: “The innovation lab concept came in response to the Ministry of Interior’s directives on the need to adopt purposeful proposals submitted by community members and discuss the success possibility of implementing them, so as to enhance the services provided by the police to the public and upgrade these services in the best possible way”.
He also noted that members of the public will be acquainted with the lab’s objectives, and they will be invited to submit their proposals through the ministry’s social networking sites, in order to identify the main challenges that face the public and launch the process for generating the appropriate innovative ideas to overcome the selected challenges. “The ideas would be then analyzed and examined during specialized and interactive meetings and workshops that will be organized in the next few months,” said Major General Al Nuaimi.
For his part, Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior, indicated that the initial phase for activating the innovation lab will commence soon with the launch of the hashtag # The Innovation-Lab-of the Ministry –of Interior through the ministry’s pages on social media websites (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and Google Plus). “Through these platforms, members of the public are invited to submit their ideas about the issues that need to be revamped and developed. They can interact with the ministry via the hashtag designated for this purpose or via SMS on the phone number allocated for this end 3344.
Moreover, the Security Media Department called upon the public to interact with the innovation lab; pointing out that the success of this project depends on the public’s active participation and cooperation in the brainstorming sessions aimed at choosing the best innovative and practical solutions. This would reinforce the ministry’s efforts in its quest to adopt positive ideas and proposals. The department also indicated that brainstorming is a collective, practical approach to innovation aimed at finding the appropriate solutions to specific problems through intensive and freewheeling group discussion of creative and constructive ideas submitted by community members for the service of their society.
