The Punitive and Correctional Institutions Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ has announced the visiting hours for inmates at the Al Ain and Al Wathba centers, the Remand Section, and the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center during the holy month of Ramadan.
Brigadier Mohammed Saif Matar Al Zaabi, Head of the Punitive and Correctional Establishments Department at Abu Dhabi Police, noted that permitted prosecutors will be able to visit inmates on Sunday from 9 am to 11:30 am (for drug-related cases), and from 11:45 am to 2 pm for the remaining cases throughout the month of Ramadan.
Female visitors will be received on Mondays for all cases except drug-related cases between 9 am and 1 pm and then between 2 pm and 4 pm. Female visitors will be able to visit inmates imprisoned for drug-related cases on Tuesdays between 9 am and 1 pm and between 2 pm and 4 pm. Diplomatic staff will be able to visit inmates in coordination with embassies (in all cases) on Wednesdays, between 9 am and 2 pm.
Brigadier Al Zaabi said that male visitors may meet female inmates on Thursdays, from 9 am to 11:30 am; lawyers may sit with their male and female clients from 11:45 am to 2 pm (in all cases).
Foreign male visitors can visit male inmates on Fridays from 8 am to 11 am (for all cases except drug-related cases); and from 2 pm to 4 pm (for drug-related cases).
Brigadier Al Zaabi added that Arab visitors will have the chance to meet Arab male inmates on Saturdays, from 9 am to 1 pm (for all cases except drug-related cases) and from 2 pm and 4 pm (for drug-related cases).
As for visiting those in custody in the Remand Section, Al Zaabi noted that permitted prosecutors will be able to visit detainees on Sunday from 9 am to 11:30 am (for drug-related cases), and from 11:45 am to 2 pm for all remaining cases. Female visitors will be able to visit detainees on Mondays (for all cases except drug-related cases) from 9 am to 2 pm; and female visitors will be able to visit inmates (for drug-related cases) on Tuesdays from 9 am to 2 pm.
Diplomatic staff will be able to visit detainees in coordination with embassies (for all cases except drug-related cases) on Wednesdays, between 9 am and 2 pm. Male visitors may meet female detainees on Thursdays, from 9 am to 11:30 am; lawyers may visit on the same day (for all cases) after the necessary coordination from 11:45 am to 2 pm. Foreign male visitors may visit male detainees on Fridays from 9 am to 11:30 am (for drug-related cases), and from 11:45 am to 2 pm (for all cases except drug-related cases). Arab visitors will have the chance to meet Arab male detainees on Saturdays from 11:45 am to 2 pm (for all cases except drug-related cases).
Regarding the visitation schedule for minors and juveniles at the Al Mafraq’s Juvenile Care Center, the Director of the Punitive and Correctional Establishments at Abu Dhabi Police said that female visitors can visit both male and female juveniles on Mondays between 9 am to 4 pm; foreign male visitors can visit both male and female juveniles on Fridays between 9 am to 4 pm; and Arab male visitors can visit both male and female juveniles on Saturdays between 9 am to 4 pm.
