ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, March 13th 2016 [ME NewsWire]
Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, Director General of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi, inaugurated a reading library at the directorate’s headquarters, as part of the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who has declared 2016 as the “Year of Reading.”
“The library aims to encourage the staff and visitors of the directorate to read, make reading a social habit, and drive convergence. It also serves to broaden their horizons towards the future, to actively participate in the development and growth of their society and country,” said Lt. Colonel Al Ansari.
Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Head of the Libraries Department at the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, explained that the authority had prepared a comprehensive year-long national program. The program includes supplying the library at the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate, and other libraries in the emirate, with the authority’s latest publications. The authority is also working on opening a number of libraries in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, as a contribution to spread and deliver its educational message to all segments of society.
The inauguration was attended by representatives of Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (supporting entity), and a number of officers of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate.
