Charlie Beck, Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) lauded the expertise of the Security Support Department in the Abu Dhabi Police and the efficiency of the UAE police in combating and uncovering crimes in record time.
The LAPD Chief expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to get acquainted with the leading experience in police work, which earned the UAE a prominent position among the world's most secure countries and a prestigious reputation for the remarkable and distinguished police and security efforts.
The Los Angeles Police celebrated the graduation of a batch of the Security Support personnel, and a number of professional trainers for driving in unconventional police operations, as well as on tactics used to subdue wanted criminals. Moreover, the Security Support staff members ably participated in a training and practical, carrying out the everyday tasks with Los Angeles Police officers. They also participated in the arrest of a number of outlaws, proving their high efficiency in carrying out difficult and serious security tasks. The staff members have also shown accuracy and speed in performance, and full commitment to carry out the functions assigned to them to the fullest. Beck also lauded the efficiency of the female members of the Security Support team.
For his part, Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Head of Security Support Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, praised the distinguished cooperation with the Los Angeles Police, in providing the necessary support to the Security Support staff members during the two-week training program. “The Security Support personnel carried out highly efficient and quality exercises, and assisted the LAPD patrols in their daily missions; this contributed to reinforcing their practical expertise,” he said.
The Abu Dhabi Police Security Support team was divided into groups and each group participated in the field operations of LAPD patrols at various locations in the streets of the city. Once reports were received, the patrols headed to the scenes of the crime and the Security Support teams participated in arresting wanted criminals. They also took part in a number of air surveillance missions and aided in the arrest of the criminals.
The Abu Dhabi Police delegation included Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Head of the Security Support Department, who flew in from Abu Dhabi to attend the delegation members’ graduation ceremony that was held at the LAPD headquarters. The delegation also included Captain Mohammed Ibrahim Al Balas, Chief of the Operations Planning Section; Lieutenant Ahmed Mubarak Al Bloushi, Patrols Officer at the Department; along with a number of officers and experts from the Department.
