The Ministry of Interior will be showcasing a number of initiatives and projects that reflect the innovation and creativity of its staff members during Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE 2016), scheduled to commence on April 11, at the Dubai World Trade Center. This participation aims to promote the UAE’s competitiveness and highlight the flurry of time and effort saving services offered to the public.
Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, underscored that the ministry is keen to achieve the higher leadership’s vision, to make their people happy and attain top ranks globally at all levels by achieving the objectives of UAE Vision 2021. “The Ministry of Interior is keen to develop and use the latest smart applications in Information Technology to improve the quality of services provided to customers. This is achieved by introducing a wide variety of services and projects and transforming them into smart services,” he said.
Moreover, Lt. General Al Sha’far noted that the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE 2016), held under the slogan “Government Innovation... The Key to Achieve Happier Citizens”, is a significant annual event. “DIGAE 2016 provides an important platform for the Ministry of Interior to showcase its latest ambitious smart projects and initiatives, which contributes to the provision of high-quality services according to international best standards,” he pointed out.
Colonel Nasser Khadem Al Ka’bi, Head of the Customer Service Department at the Ministry of Interior and Supervisor of the Ministry of Interior’s Pavilion, underlined that the ministry’s participation embodies the UAE Vision 2021 via a unique and distinguished strategic platform at a global level. “This platform will provide the appropriate channels to exchange expertise and to discuss innovation in government services and assess their widespread use among the public,” he said. Furthermore, Colonel Al Ka’bi pointed out that the exhibition will provide the smart government with the opportunity to unveil its smart services; maintain its competitiveness and forward thinking on the international level, and adopt innovative and proactive ideas as part of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy. “The exhibition will also shed the light on the most important innovative development projects of international standards and specifications,” he explained.
Colonel Al Ka’bi emphasized that that the Ministry of Interior is keen to take part in the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE), which draws a wide international participation every year, with a flurry of innovations and initiatives in government services that are highly regarded at the international level. “This year’s edition is expected to see unprecedented turnout of participants from 40 government bodies representing 20 countries, wishing put their achievements in public service on display,” he said.
“Through its pavilion at the exhibition, the Ministry of Interior will acquaint participants and visitors with its cutting-edge programs and projects. “These projects include the Service Delivery Follow-up System Project at the Ministry of Interior, which includes a central operations room to monitor the performance of service centers and staff members electronically. This system is the first of its kind globally in the field of government services. “This system aims at monitoring and supervising the Customer Service centers. It is designed to allow officials to keep track of staff members’ productivity and performance, to achieve customer satisfaction by organizing the flow of customers’ transactions at the centers and providing the services as fast as possible,” he explained. Moreover, Colonel Al Ka’bi explained that the system allows measuring service delivery indicators through the customers’ waiting time for less than 10 minutes, the service delivery average time, and the number of customers receiving the service in less than five minutes.
The public will also be acquainted with the ‘Smart Travel System. The system allows travelers to enjoy a personal travel experience, by which they can quickly finalize their travel procedures from the moment they arrive to the airport and until they board the plane, through electronic gates. This program is a valuable and vital project that streamlines travel procedures. It is one of the UAE's leading and unique projects, by which travelers only require seven seconds to cross through these ports; an all time worldwide record.
Visitors to the exhibition will also be able to examine the ‘Smart Library’ experience at the Ministry of Interior, (www.smartlibrary.ae), which is considered the first of its kind in terms of harnessing modern technology in the area of sciences and spread of knowledge. The smart library contains a wide variety of digital information sources, including approximately 14,000 e-books; 8,000 periodic scientific journals; more than 3,000 online newspapers that are updated every minute; and thousands of Master’s and Phd thesis and dissertations from across the world; in addition to digital solutions and smart audio-visual software that support the expansion of knowledge and the academic attainment for all MoI staff members.
