Under the Slogan “Your Choice Determines Your Destiny”

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police stressed its readiness to host the 2016 GCC Traffic Week that will be organized next March under the slogan “Your Choice Determines Your Destiny.” The 2016 GCC Traffic Week will include a number of social events and activities.
Brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaiaili, Deputy Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, commented that the GCC Traffic Week held in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region is a local and gulf annual event. During this occasion, a series of intensive events, lectures and programs focusing on the awareness side will be presented. This will lead to the gradual change in society’s attitude towards concepts related to safe driving and making the roads safer.
He also explained that the directorate adopted determined activities and events aiming to engage different segments of society. This is to increase traffic awareness, in coordination with key partners. “The drivers’ wrong decisions are the reason behind traffic accidents,” he said.
Brigadier Al Khaiaili added that exhibition stages will be established in malls all over Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region in addition to lectures, seminars, cultural competitions, and motivational and interactive video passages addressing the direction of road users’ behavior. This will be done using innovative means which simulate reality and highlight the psychological and material effects resulting from traffic incidents.
He stressed the important community role of the partner companies Emirates Driving Company, Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Saaed for Traffic Systems, Traffic Control Center, Emirates Transport and Emirates College of Technology. These companies present the GCC Traffic Week’s activities and events at exhibition stages, theaters and others locations in Abu Dhabi. These activities are in the framework of the continuous and persevering efforts towards promoting the highest levels of the citizens and residents’ traffic awareness, and reminding them of the importance of abiding by traffic laws.
He stressed that preserving the lives and property of citizens and resident road users is a community responsibility. He called upon everyone to create a true social partnership that fosters a safe traffic society.
