First Event in the UAE and the Region about Innovations by Women

On 8 March, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be hosting the 2016 ‘Emirati Woman Conference: Distinction and Innovation’ under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairwoman of Motherhood, Childhood Supreme Council.
This conference is the first of its kind in the country and the region to address women’s innovations. It will honor a number of leading citizens, including 10 female university students who have presented distinctive innovations. It will also include a special artistic operetta entitled ‘Kabira Yal Imarat,’ written by poet Abdullah bin Shamma, with the participation of a number of big artists, composed by artist Fayez Al Saeed, directed by artist Dr. Habib Ghuloom, and performed by artist Samira Ahmad and the Ornina Band.
Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Chairman of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA), revealed during a recent press conference that the ‘Emirati Woman Conference’ will be held at the Emirates Palace. It will be organized by the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the General Women's Union, and the EIPA. The conference will coincide with International Women’s Day to highlight Emirati women’s innovations, he said.
He then added, “The organization of the ‘Emirati Woman Conference’ aligns with the national innovation strategy, which aims to transform the UAE into one of the most inventive countries internationally over the next seven years, and was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. This conference is also held within the framework of the national strategy to empower women and increase their innovation between 2015 and 2021, launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima.
The conference, the idea of which originated from the EIPA, according to Major General Al Obaidly, will address the means, dimensions and recommendations of the Emirati women’s creations and innovations. It will include an artistic operetta and a complete presentation of the various women’s experiences in creation and innovation. It will also honor a number of leading female citizens, including 10 female university students in their final years, who presented distinctive inventions among a number of candidates.
He added that the conference will discuss major topics with leading personalities from the public and private sector. A number of women will participate in the conference sessions by presenting their involvement in innovation. Finally, discussion groups about innovative environments will be held.
The press conference held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi was attended by advisor Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al Naqbi, member of the EIPA’s Board of Directors; Lt Colonel Awadh Saleh Al Kindi, Editor-in-Chief of 999 Magazine, media partner of the EIPA; a number of police officers, and people interested in the women’s achievements and distinctive innovations.
Lt Colonel Al Kindi affirmed that 999 Magazine’s participation as a media partner of the EIPA for this conference is carried out within the framework of the recommendations of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and MoI, to enhance and support the partnership between the Ministry of Interior and the public utility associations, support and empower the Emirati women in different fields of life, and honor a number of leading citizens who provided distinctive innovations that serve the society, the country, and humanity.
